    The main Objectives are; Accessibility, Affordability, Digital transformation and Digital Skills development in Vanuatu.
    Speeches by the Australian High Commissioner H.E Ms Heidi Bootle and the Key note Address by the Hon Prime Minister as the Minister responsible for ICT.

    The Official Launching of the Official Development Assistance Management Policy and Vanuatu's first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) Policy was launched by the Hon Prime Minister along side Hon Minister for Climate Change and Hon Minister of Internal Affairs on Tuesday 9th May 2023.
     
    The Government of Vanuatu is committed to improving the quality of economic and social infrastructure across Vanuatu. The Government also recognizes that the public and private sectors both have roles to play in delivering the high-quality, responsive, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure services that Vanuatu needs.

    In a recent meeting between Ms. Neeta Bhushan, the Ambassador of India to Vanuatu, and Prime Minister (PM) Ishmael Kalsakau, India expressed its deep concern over the recent devastation caused by the two recent tropical cyclones in the Pacific island nation.

    Ambassador Bhushan conveyed a message from the Indian PM, stating that an assistance package of US$500,000 will be announced during their upcoming meeting later this year with PM Kalsakau.

    The announcement of financial aid was warmly received the Vanuatu PM, who expressed his gratitude for India’s support.

    He also stressed the valuable lessons that Vanuatu can learn from India, particularly in the areas of land cultivation and product value addition.

    Kalsakau highlighted that Vanuatu has a lot to learn from India regarding how they cultivate their land and add value to their products.

    He emphasised the importance of implementing these lessons to enhance Vanuatu’s resilience in the face of future natural disasters.

    The devastating impact of the two cyclones on Vanuatu has underscored the urgent need for proactive measures to mitigate the effects of such natural disasters.

    By embracing India’s expertise in land cultivation and product value addition, Vanuatu aims to enhance its ability to withstand future cyclones and safeguard the well-being of its citizens.

    Prime Minister Hon Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau Maau’Koro met with His Excellency KANG HO Jeung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vanuatu base in Papua New Guinea on Saturday 22nd April 2023.

    His Excellency KANG HO Jeung congratulated the Vanuatu Government on the outcome of the ICJ Campaign that was passed unanimously at the United Nations General Assembly.

    There was an invitation from South Korea for a visit from the Hon PM for further discussions on areas of mutual interest.

    The Hon Prime Minister pointed with interest on the High-end education system and Health Services of South Korea.

     

    The United Nations team met with the Prime Minister, Hon Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau Maau’Koro and agreed for a further assistance from the United States with the amount of $1.7 million.

    These funds will go towards:

    1. Food security
    2. Water and Sanitation
    3. Emergency Shelter

     

    The Hon Prime Minister was commended for the outstanding approach currently undertaking.

    The UN also confirmed more assistance can be given from international partners.
