    Japan Special Envoy Hon. Takei Shunzake met with the Prime Minister Hon. Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau Maau’Koro for bilateral talks on 11th April 2023. During the meeting, Japanese Special Envoy emphasized on an invitation of a state visit for the Honorable Prime Minister to Japan.

    The discussion between the two countries revolves around the enhancement of corporation that is always between Japan and Vanuatu.

    A suggestion from Japan was to allow corporations to be extended to recovery also.

    The Honorable Prime Minister thanked Japan for that indication and also for the co-sponsor of the motion at UNGA.

    On Wednesday 22nd March 2023, the Korean Special Envoy handed over the Invitation of the South Korean President to Prime Minister Maau’Koro. There was an invitation for the "Prime Minister to attend the First Korea-Pacific Islands Leaders Summit" which will take place in Seoul, Republic of Korea on the 29-30th May 2023. 

    Korea has pledged 20,000,000vt worth of humanitarian aid to Vanuatu, towards TC Judy and Kevin recovery efforts".

    The two leaders further discussed assistance towards solar energy and scholarship in marine science and also more bilateral issues was discussed. Korea was a small nation which was colonized before and has worked hard in building up its country to where it is now, able to provide Aid assistance.

    MSG 35 years on is still standing and its presence in the pacific as a sub-regional Institution is more relevant now than ever. We have shown our cynics and political commentators wrong when they challenge our founding farthers that this subregional grouping has will not succeed and that it has no relevance back then

    MSG Secretariate has also noted two noble initiatives initiated by Vanuatu:

    2.  Non proliferation treaty on fossil fuel  
     
    "The MSG Secretariate is excited over these two new initiatives. It is issues like these that sets MSG apart from other sub-regional organisations" DG 

    Re-igniting true Melanesian spirit. Benny W and delegation met with the MSG Chairman who I also PM Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau Maau'koro in Port Vila and presented a West Papuan flag.

     

    During the conversation former PM Joe Natuman said MSG is a political organization when It was established. This is not a trade organisation of some sort. 

     

    Hence the slogan from Vanuatu/ MSG Is not free until the West Papua and the kanaks are totally free politically
